Thanksgiving

"Somebody come quick, the turkey's on fire!"
"On fire?!!!"
"Well, there's all this smoke!"
"Oh that? That's not from the turkey, it's from the doll in the broiler. THE DOLL IN THE BROILER!!!!!!"

"The communion hymn today is found on page 54 of the missalettes, We gather together to sing the Lord's praises."
Body of Christ
Amen
Body of Christ
Amen
Body of Christ
Amen...
Lord I am so grateful for all you have shown me, given me, promised me. I come before you now to say "Thank you."

"The holidays aren't the same without the kids here. Remember the time Helen brought Jack home to meet the family and he spilled his wine on my linen tablecloth. Helen almost died. Poor Jack, he was trying so hard to impress all of us."

"Yeah, We had to put three boards in the table to make it big enough and even then we were sitting on each other's lap. That was something."
Ring...Ring...Ring
"Hello."
"Hi, Mom, it's Helen."
"Helen! We were just talking about you."
"Happy Thanksgiving, Mom. How are you?"
"Fine, honey, just fine. And you and the children?"

"Dad, did you ever cook a turkey before?"
"Nope. This is my first. You worried?"
"Not really. But you know, Mom used to take all that stuff out before she put the dressing in."
"What stuff?... Oh."
"Dad?"
"Yes, son."
"Do you miss Mom too?"

Moments... Lives.... Families..... Celebration.......

Moments...painful, joyful, hectic, sacred. Stretching one after the other to create...

Lives...meaningful, lonely, busy, uncertain. Merging, mingling to form...

Families...close, scattered, small, broken. All gathering in their own fashion for the purpose of...

Celebration...fitting and proper for a People of God. Proclaiming on this particular day,

For a heart that can love, we thank you Lord.
